The Xavier Musketeers (25-8) are headed to the 2009-10 NCAA Tournament as a No. 6 seed in the West Region. The Muskies will face off against No. 11 seed, Minnesota. The game is set for Friday at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The victor will advance to face the winner of the match-up between No. 3 seed Pitt and No. 14 seed Oakland on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Gophers (21-13) fell to Ohio State in the finals of the Big 10 Tournament on Sunday afternoon, 90-61, but the team has won seven of its last 10 games. The two teams have shared two common opponents this season, both of which Minnesota has beaten: Butler and St. Joe's.
The well balanced Gophers are led by guards Lawrence Westbrook (12.5 ppg) and Blake Hoffarber (10.5 ppg). 6-7 forward Damian Johnson adds 10.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
Xavier has now appeared in 21 NCAA Tournaments including nine in the last 10 seasons.
