Muskies Remain Perfect in Big East with Win over SJU
By Jay Skeldon, 1/7/2017

The Xavier Musketeers notched their sixth straight win, knocking off St. John's, 97-82, on Saturday afternoon at Cintas Center. With the win, Xavier remains perfect in the Big East and sits as the only unbeaten team with a 3-0 league record, and moves to 13-2 overall on the season. Edmund Sumner scored 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, leading a balanced attack that featured six players in double figures scoring for the Muskies. After trailing early in the game, the X-Men surged ahead on deadly three-point shooting (10-of-21), aggressive drives, and active defense as X controlled most of the game against the talented and athletic Red Storm. The Musketeers are set to begin a three-game Big East gauntlet against No. 1 Villanova, No. 18 Butler and No. 10 Creighton in consecutive games starting on Tuesday in Philadelphia. Game time is set for 7:00 pm on FS1.
