X Falls Short in the Ocean State
By Jay Skeldon, 2/15/2017

Plagued by injuries, the Xavier Musketeers played short-handed on Wednesday night at Providence and dropped their second straight game, 75-63. The Musketeers clearly missed the leadership and contributions from junior Trevon Bluiett who missed the game due to a sprained ankle that was tweaked during the Providence game. Bluiett was on the bench in a boot and remains day to day. Meanwhile, after leading by two points at half, X allowed the Friars to overtake them in the second half and go on for the win. Rashid Gaston continued his recent strong play with another double-double (19 points, 14 rebounds) in the losing effort. J.P. Macura added 17 points for the Muskies. The Musketeers continue their three straight games on the road on Saturday as they face off against Marquette in Milwaukee. Game time is set for 8:00 pm.
