No. 1 Seed Xavier Crushes Texas Southern in NCAA Tournament

Xavier seniors led the charge as the No. 1 seed Musketeers knocked off No. 16 seed Texas Southern, 102-83, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville in the First Round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. J.P. Macura exploded for a career-high and game high 29 points including 5-of-6 from behind the 3-point arc. Trevon Bluiett added 26 and Karem Kanter went for 24 points to round out the scoring leaders for Xavier. XU's game total of 102 marks the most points scored by the Musketeers in the history of their NCAA Tournament appearances; additionally, no other team has broken the 100 point threshold in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. With the win, Xavier improves its record to 29-5 overall and moves on to face No. 9 seed Florida State in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, March 18 at 8:40 p.m. The game will be broadcast on TNT.
