ADDITIONAL MUSKIE NOTES FROM TUESDAY OCT. 23
By Andy Mac Williams, 10/23/2018

Xavier received a fifth verbal commitment for the Class of 2019 Tuesday. Combo guard KyKy (pronounced Key Key) Tandy has picked XU over Ole Miss(SEC). Tandy visited Victory Parkway for last Friday's Musketeer Madness. He is a National consensus Top 100 player and a leading candidate for Kentucky Mr. Basketball from Hopkinsville,KY in the western portion of the Commonwealth. Tandy averaged 30PPG as a high school junior. He's 6-1 190 pounds and thrives on high octane dribble penetration. KyKy had 17 Division 1 offers including Auburn, Iowa State, Tennessee,Clemson and VCU. He visited X and Mississippi.

The Rebels' new coach Kermit Davis from Middle Tennessee State had made Tandy a top priority. Davis replaced Andy Kennedy as Ole Miss coach last spring.

Xavier cracks the Top 10 among D-1 recruiting classes according to some experts and may add a sixth player soon. 6-6 Forward Myron Gardner from Detroit is reportedly leaning toward the Muskies. He's been compared to 4 year Xavier starter Justin Cage(2003-2007) which would make him an instant favorite with your intrepid reporter Andy Mac.

BIG EAST media day is Thursday at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Coach Travis Steele will take Junior captains Tyrique Jones and Quentin Goodin with him to the Big Apple.

Goodin is still in a sling after dislocating his left shoulder almost two weeks ago. He is making progress in rehab and is expected back at full go early in November. Redshirt Columbia transfer Myles Hansen has returned to full practice after missing a week with a jaw injury.

Naji Marshall scored 13 and played confidently in Friday's Cintas scrimmage. He's wearing the Gold Jersey as Week 4 top practice player. Zach Hankins wore Gold after Week 1 followed by Paul Scruggs and Tyrique Jones.

The Gold Jersey is a tradition started during Sean Miller's coaching tenure and continued by Chris Mack and now Travis Steele. The winner is determined by scores accumulated during basically every drill with extra weight placed on offensive rebounding.

Tu Holloway is the all time Gold Jersey leader at 18 over his dynamic four year career(2008-2012).
