X Drops Second Straight in Maui
The Musketeers dropped their third straight game of the 2018-19 season on Tuesday as the San Diego State Aztecs eclipsed Xavier, 79-74, in the teams' second game of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational in Hawaii. With the loss, Xavier drops to 2-3 while SDSU improves to 3-1.
After building a 19-point lead in the first half, X went stone cold from the field and the free throw line in the second half, shooting just 40 and 58.3%, respectively. Xavier also hit on just 3-of-14 3-pointers for 21.4% after intermission.
XU was led by three players who finished in double-figures scoring (Quentin Goodin - 20, Zach Hankins - 15, and Kyle Castlin - 11). Goodin, Hankins and Elias Harden's scoring efforts marked career bests for each player.
SDSU was led by Jalen McDaniels who scored a game-high 26 points as well as guard Devin Watson who finished with 21.
The Musketeers play their final game of the Maui tournament on Wednesday, facing off against Illinois (1-3). The game, which will be televised on ESPNU, is slated to tipoff at 9:00 p.m. EST at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui.
