X Edges St. Johnís

The Xavier Musketeers picked up their first win in the 2019-20 BIG EAST conference, knocking off visiting St. Johnís, 75-67, on Sunday afternoon before a sold out crowd of 10,254 at Cintas Center. Xavier was led by Naji Marshall who scored a game-high 20 points to go with eight rebounds. Paul Scruggs (14 points) and Tyrique Jones (12 points, 12 rebounds) also brought key contributions to the winning team.

Sundayís game also marked the emergence of two of Xís younger players, freshman KyKy Tandy and sophomore Dontarius James. Tandy brought an injection of offense off the bench with career-highs of 12 points on 4-of-6 3-point field goals, while James also notched a career high six points and eight rebounds in 26 minutes of action.

With the win, the Musketeers improve their record to 12-3 (1-1). Xavier must quickly turn its sights to its next game in which it hosts talented Seton Hall. Game time is set for 8:30pm at Cintas Center.
