X Falls Short at Home against The Hall
By Jay Skeldon, 1/8/2020

Xavier made a furious comeback attempt in the final minutes of the game but it was not enough as the Muskies fell to Seton Hall, 83-71, on Wednesday evening at Cintas Center. The Musketeers cut Seton Hall lead to four points with just under two remaining on a Quentin Goodin dunk.

Xavier’s Paul Scruggs then intercepted a pass on the ensuing Seton Hall possession in the backcourt only to pass the ball back to the Pirates. That turned into a Seton Hall basket and a downward spiral to finish the game with a twelve point Seton Hall victory.

Tyrique Jones led the Musketeers with a team high 19 points and nine rebounds. Scruggs (17), Naji Marshall (15) and Jason Carter (14) rounded out the double-digit scorers for Xavier.

All-American candidate, Myles Powell, led The Hall with a game-high 24 points and nine boards.

With the loss, Xavier falls to 12-4 (1-2 BE) while Seton Hall advances to 11-4 and a perfect 3-0 in league play. Next up for Xavier is Creighton at 2:00 pm at Cintas Center on Saturday.
