X Breaks Out Losing Streak with Tough-Nosed Win Against Georgetown
The Xavier Musketeers broke a three-game losing streak on Wednesday night, knocking off Georgetown, 66-57, before 10,387 fans at Cintas Center. The Musketeers won through a hard-nosed effort of defense, rebounding and general toughness and togetherness. Freshman KyKy Tandy exploded for a career-high 18 points on 7-of-18 shooting including 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Naji Marshall matched Tandy with 18 points himself while Tyrique Jones (10 points, 13 rebounds) and Jason Carter (11 points, 10 rebounds) notched double-doubles.
As a team, Xavier won the battle of the boards, 48-38, and capitalized on 20 second chance points compared to just six for Georgetown.
X looks to parlay its success as it heads to the road to take on Creighton on Sunday, January 26. Game time is 4:00pm in Omaha, Nebraska.
