X Outlasted by Marquette in 2OT at Cintas
By Musketeer Madness, 1/29/2020

After missing the last two games due to injury, Xavier senior guard Quentin Goodin returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday night against Marquette at Cintas Center. Goodin provided a big boost for X, finishing with a team-high 19 points including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. But, Xavier struggled from the free throw line, converting on just 11-of-25 FTs for 44%. That proved to be the difference in the game for the Musketeers as they were outlasted in double-overtime, 84-82. Xavier (13-8, 2-6 BIG EAST) tied the score at 68 and sent the game to overtime on a trademark deep three from the top of the arc from Naji Marshall off of a scoop pass.

Other standouts for Xavier included Tyrique Jones who recorded another double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds while Marshall (16), Scruggs (12) and Freemantle (11) rounded out the double-digit scorers. Marshall added seven rebounds and five assists before fouling out in double OT.

The road for Xavier doesn't get any easier as it must gear up for a trip to first place Seton Hall on Saturday. Game time is 11am at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
