Xavier Basketball TEAM 99 Update....8 days until the Opener Wednesday Nov. 25 vs Oakland (Horizon League) at Cintas-12 noon on FS1.
X expected to find out about Hampton transfer Ben Stanley's red shirt waiver in next 24 hours. Belmont transfer Adam Kunkel's paperwork was just submitted to NCAA. Kunkel had intended take a development red shirt, but NCAA's granting of blanket extra year of eligibility due to Covid changed the plan.
Muskies did experience a Covid shutdown early in September. Travis Steele feels that has underlined to his group how fragile the situation is and helped focus on basics of staying virus free.
Steele views NCAA's intent to stage 68 team NCAA Tourney at one site(Indianapolis) as a plus showing determination to get March Madness completed. Players now have confidence their goal will be a reality if they play well. 13 games is the minimum needed to get NCAA consideration. Xavier has 27 scheduled.
More details from last Saturday's Blue-White scrimmage.
