Musketeers Comeback in Dramatic Win Over Friars

The Xavier Musketeers fought back from a seven point deficit it with 1:13 left in the game to knock off Providence, 74-73, on Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center. The comeback was capped by a 3-point field goal by freshman Colby Jones in the final seconds of the game to give Xavier the lead and win. Jones finished nine points.

Sophomore captain Zach Freemantle led X with team-highs of 17 points and eight rebounds. Nate Johnson added 14 points on 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

With the win, Xavier moves its record to 10-2 (3-2 BIG EAST) while Providence falls to 7-5 (3-3).

Next up for the Musketeers is a rematch with Seton Hall on the road on Saturday. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
