Muskies Blow Out Bowling Green

The Xavier Musketeers won in impressive fashion on Tuesday night, blowing out visiting Bowling Green, 101-57, before 10,067 fans at Cintas Center. A total of five Muskies recorded double figures in scoring including Jordan Crawford, who notched a career-high 24 points. Crawford turned in an impressive and complete performance with seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

XU broke the century mark for the first time since January 2008 against Virginia. The win marks the Musketeers (2-0) second straight to start the season. The Falcons drop to an even 1-1.

The game was as close as four points with 7:52 left in the first half, 25-29. Then Xavier unloaded with a 22-3 run to close out the half. The X-Men nailed nine 3-pointers in the first half to cripple BGSU.

The Musketeers guards led a full court offensive effort. Terrell Holloway and Mark Lyons were solid with 12 and 10 points, respectively, to go with three assists each. Dante Jackson added five points and four assists.

The Muskies also shot the lights out, hitting on 64.8 percent of its shots from the field including 12-of-19 from 3-point range for 63.2 percent. Brad Redford (4-of-5) and Jordan Crawford (4-of-6) led the long range attack while Holloway also added a pair of triples.

The post players were very solid for Xavier. Offensively, the team recorded a +16 margin for points in the paint. Jason Love and Kenny Frease combined for 20 points and 15 rebounds. That included a double-double - 12 points and 12 rebounds - for Love.

Jamel McLean added six points and five rebounds, while freshman Jeff Robinson also contributed six points including two dunks late in the second half.

Xavier also won the battle of the glass against the Falcons, 43-26.

Bowling Green was led by three players who scored in double figures. Scott Thomas scored 13 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Marc Larson and Otis Polk added 10 and 11 points, respectively.

The Musketeers return to action on Saturday against Sacred Heart at Cintas Center. XU looks to snag their third win in as many tries. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
