The Musketeers' offense matched the cold and snowy surroundings in Manhattan, Kansas on Tuesday night. Xavier shot a season low 29.4 percent from the field, hitting just 15-of-51 shots as the team fell to Kansas State, 71-56, before 12,528 fans at Bramlage Coliseum. Brad Redford scored a career-high 16 points which included 4-of-5 made 3-pointers. XU drops to 5-3 on the season while K-State ups its record to 8-1.
Not much went right for the X-Men offensively or defensively. Xavier turned the ball over 13 times, was outrebounded 39-30, recorded just six assists, and struggled shooting the ball from all points: From the field (29.4 percent), 3-point range (29.4 percent), and free throw line (63.6 percent).
Jordan Crawford joined Redford for high scoring honors for the Muskies, adding 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Kenny Frease contributed six points and five rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
The Wildcats were led by Jacob Pullen with recorded 16 points. Center Curtis Kelly also added 15 points and nine rebounds for K-State.
Next up for the X-Men is the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout against the University of Cincinnati (5-1). The game is set for 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13 at Cintas Center. It is scheduled to be televised again on ESPNU.
