Muskies Knocked Out by Nova in OT in BE Semifinals
By Musketeer Madness, 3/16/2019

The Xavier Musketeers were in control for the majority of the Semifinal game of the BIG EAST Tournament against No. 1 seed Villanova. But, the Wildcats' late surge enabled Nova to send the game to overtime and eventually win, 71-67, to knock the Musketeers out of the BIG EAST tournament and effectively end their hopes for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid. Xavier was led by sophomore Paul Scruggs who finished with career-highs of 28 points and 11 rebounds. Graduate transfer center, Zach Hankins, contributed a big 18 points to go with six rebounds. With the loss, Xavier falls to 18-15 overall while Villanova moves to 24-9. Xavier will await its postseason fate until Selection Sunday.
