Kunkel's 3 Lifts X Past Marquette in Dramatic Fashion

Adam Kunkel drained a fade-away 3-point from near the top left of the arc as time expired to give Xavier a 91-88 win over Marquette at Cintas Center on Sunday afternoon in the Musketeer's first BIG EAST game of the season. Kunkel finished with 22 points as X remains unblemished this season with an 8-0 record.

Paul Scruggs led all scorers with a game-high 29 points (11-19 FG, 5-8 3-pt) to go with six assists while Nate Johnson recorded 14 points including 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

Marquette (5-4, 1-2) was led by Dawson Garcia and Koby McEwen who finished with 20 points apiece in the loss.

The Musketeers will look to remain perfect as they travel to Omaha to take on Creighton on Wednesday, December 23. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at CHI Health Center.
