For what it's worth, he's at number 54 to the rockets on NBA draft.net right now.

I think his game fits really really well in Europe but he very well may get a look in the NBA. His best bet in the NBA is to become a really great 3 point shooter who hustles and plays tough d.

I think his ceiling is probably as a second rotation type player who can play tough d and knock down a couple threes. Every team in the NBA needs a couple of those guys though.

I think JP might be the most underrated basketball player in Xavier history by their own fans. This kid has more heart than anybody on the floor in most games. In the beatdown against Gonzaga last year he was the only player on the floor that was still diving for balls in the last few minutes of the game. He has size, athleticism and better than average skills in all areas of the game IMO.

I think everyone loves his heart and how he leaves it all on the floor.

But heart only goes so far in the NBA when you're trying to guard guys like Westbrook or Lebron or Giannis.

I'd like to see him get a chance but more than likely he plays overseas if he wants to play pro ball or something like D league.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

That's a knock that I also don't agree with. He's not a point guard.

He's not a PG and he actually has good handles for a SG. I agree with the comment about Macura being one of the most underrated players in X history by X fans. He does have heart but he is so much more than heart. He knows the game better than 99% of college and pro level players. Has great vision and anticipation. Also has a very good shot. I do not see him as a 3 point specialist in any league. He can create offense for himself and others.

In prior seasons Macura would rarely get the benefit of the doubt from officials when driving the lane. I think that ends this year and he will be at the line earning points far more often, which will change the opinion of many on here that see him as a guy with heart and modest ability. The other issue I think some have with him is his turnovers during the absence of 2 of our top 3 scorers last year. That is BS as he was getting double and triple teamed because he was the only guy that could create offense. No doubt some of the TOs were due to bad decisions on his part but many were due to exhaustion and a swarming defense as he attacked the rim.

Can he guard LeBron or Westbrook, no but he would never be matched against either, other than on a switch. Also, tell me who can guard either of them as they both seem to score big most nights.

The post game coverage of the Morehead game was incredibly biased. No doubt Bluiett had an impressive game but Macura's was actually more impressive given the 5 steals and even more efficient shooting plus similar assist and rebound numbers. Reading the recap of the game you would think Bluiett single handedly carried the team with a little help from several other guys.

Macura should have been player of the game but not a big deal to go with Bluiett as long as the press coverage is equally glowing about both players. I assume this is simply the hype about Bluiett being the potential All American and nothing more but is a completely unnecessary slight to a guy that had a hell of a game and will be key to a potential national championship. I also think it sends a terrible message to Macura that to get noticed, you have to score the most rather than simply contribute the most to the win. If he or others buy into that message the team will be a huge disappointment as a fraction of the potential will get realized.

And I happen to think that the post game media coverage doesn’t mean s**t. I doubt very seriously that JP or anyone else cares how much coverage any one player gets, or why they got it. I would hope that by now they all understand that Blu is going to get tons of media coverage and it’s not going to be equal or based on how anyone plays any one game.

Stop trying to stir up controversy where there is none. You’re probably the only one that noticed any “bias” in the media coverage.
