Sumner declares for NBA draft

Postby lionelchalmers0 » Tue Mar 28, 2017 12:23 pm

Per eds Twitter he is leaving for the draft. Thank you Ed for representing Xavier well for 3 years. By all accounts a great young man and one of the most explosive players in Xavier history.

I'll always be sad we didn't get to see more of him due to the injuries. Feels like we all got robbed (ed first and foremost) of what should have been an amazing college career.

I'm sure he felt as if he had to strike while the iron is hot and couldn't risk another injury in college. Hopefully a team will take a chance on him and he'll get an opportunity somewhere.

Don't be surprised to see Tre follow according to sources. Scoring could be tough next. He's gone

I feel as if he could have benefited greatly from another full year in college, however I 100% understand his decision.

Best of luck to the young man, and I hope he has a fantastic NBA career. He will always be a member of X!

I just heard Andy Mac talking yesterday on the radio how he would be back. I think Andy's source may be Tay Baker.

The truth is that it remains to be seen what kind of year he could have had next year anyway with two surgeries. He gets hurt again in college, he's damaged goods for sure.

Nova & the Zags keep their better players longer and that's why they make it to a final 4. Hopefully we can get a couple good transfers

Gonzaga has like 3-4 senior/grad transfers on this team. Few went "all-in" with getting that group there and it's benefitted him this season. it's not like his group of seniors have been there all 4 years.

Trey could sneak in to the second round, Ed will to get drafted. He has way too many things working against him:

Bad shoulder
Bad knee
Not a good shooter
Inconsistent defender

I wish him the best, but this move makes no sense to me.

Are we to assume he's hiring an agent?
