Scruggs and Q combine to go for 2-8 from 2 and 0-2 from 3
And only have 3 assists between them.
Strong offensive rebounding and 2nd chance points bailed them out in the 1H

not scoring in the last three minutes of half. They seemed to be satisfied with the three point shot and weak on the ball movement at times.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Strong play from Scruggs and Hankins to start in 2 H
Q has not had a good game
0-6 from the floor and 2 TO's to 1 assist

10 point win
Welage makes the dagger to seal it.
Over 80% from the line and rebounding was key for X today
Takeaway Welage's 3-6 from 3, X was 1-10 from 3.
They are just not a very good shooting team

Q was 1-10 from the field
0-3 from 3 and 1-7 from 2
Was 1-2 from the line
3 assists and 2 TO's
He was tied with Marshall for most shot attempts
Why?
Whenever he is on the floor he should always be the 5th option to shoot

All in all, not bad. Q miserable shooting aside, which hopefully - improves as he gets back into the flow after injury setback. Still a few too many offensive sets where we pound the ball with meaningless dribbles only to then force a low % shot. (although there was less of that than prior games) Chemistry seems to be developing and the 3 transfers looked to be blending better with our returning key players. Castlin saved our ass today with clutch plays when Oakland made their 2nd half push. Hey, look - Oakland made shots today, especially from "3" every time we looked to pull away. Our post D was better in 2nd half but Hill-Mais was impressive to say the least. I am rambling but my point is, lots to quibble about but definite improvement in offensive ball movement and team chemistry. As stated before the key to this long season is: Baby Steps....

87,

On the surface, it appears that way, but I think they are actually a decent shooting team, minus Q, and to a lesser extent Marshall. They are not a very cerebral team, and unfortunately, that extends to the coach. He has only been in the big seat for 8 games, but so far, much to his chagrin AH is giving him a grade of D.

Having the reputation of being a genius offensive coordinator, you would think he'd understand who should be shooting 3's and who shouldn't. Our two worst 3 point shooters, Goodin and Marshall, have taken the most. It makes absolutely no sense. For comparison, going into today's 8th game for both Creighton & X, Crieghton has shot 47% from 3, and has taken 167 of them. X, on the other hand, has taken 169 threes while making only 34%.

Q, has taken 79 shots from the field. Guess how many treys he has taken? If you said 8, you would be smart, but unfortunately wrong. 34! He has taken 34! What's even more unbelievable is that that comprises 43% of his shots, despite the fact that he only makes 26% of them. He only shoots 35% from the field overall as well. To put it into perspective, the worst shooter on the team has taken the most shots by far: 79, and he even missed one game. Marshall is 2nd at 71, and Scruggs a distant 3rd at 62. Marshall isn't shooting any better with treys, but he is shooting 10% better from 3 point land and shot better statistically last year. He is clearly a better shooter and offensive player overall.

Take Q's shooting out of the picture and the shooting percentages are actually pretty good. In order for this team to make the tourney Q has to be put on a shot count of about 6, and forbidden to shoot outside the paint unless they have a 20 point lead. I'm still a fan of Q, but he has been both selfish and has shown a very low IQ with his shot selection. Steele needs to grow a pair. As CM found out early in his tenure, I'm only a phone call away.
