End of an era, Phil is out

Postby muskieman » Tue Mar 19, 2019 3:28 pm

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Nova has become the dominant school of the Philly Big 5 - Penn, LaSalle, Temple, St Joe's and Nova

Also, Temple's Fran Dunphy is retiring at the end of this year as well.
Took Temple and Penn to 16 NCAA's - never made it past the 1st weekend.
He wins the Little Mick Cronin Lifetime Achievement Award for NCAA Tournament success.

Martelli is now and always was a class act. I for one will miss him.

Saw a quote that he is still interested in coaching.
I would expect he would get a job somewhere...even it is a D3 school ala Jim Calhoun.
Would expect the same of Fran Dunphy of Temple.

I remember when Phil took on Billy Packer on Selection Sunday defending his teams Nbr 1 seating and challenged Billy to a one on one game. Not only a good coach but great sense of humor.
