TURN DOWN for this year! Verbal commits says he was turned for this year. Is hope we appeal that decision. I do not think it is fair. Xavier needs all the bodies they can get due to the Covid19.

This was a denial of his appeal. He was actually turned down some time ago and had appealed that original decision. Now the NCAA has rejected his appeal. That’s what was taking all the time.

Only thing left now is to take it outside the NCAA and head to the court system. I doubt they will do that, but it has happened before.

Reading that Enquirer article, somebody got way to fancy with their reason for transferring. Sounds like he got bad advice all the way around. Just transfer because you want to go up in competition. That article was hard to read.

I did not know that THIS was the appeal. I guess "COACH" was right about the grades or whatever. I still think it is a shame that he can not play this year especially when the "the one and dones" usually only attend class for the first semester. XU could HELP this young man and teach him how to study and become all he can be as a player and as a student. Go Xavier!

We will really miss his rebounding and inside play especially since Carter played soft vs BE competition last season.

Disagree completely. As the grandfather of an autistic boy, I understand completely the need by some for in-person, in-class instruction in a very structured situation. Him transferring from a virtual only instruction model to a school that gives him that structure, and the additional support that the Xavier tutoring system can offer him, should have resulted in an automatic waiver. There have been many other occasions where student-athletes transferred for reasons that have nothing to do with academics and have been granted immediate eligibility. The national COLLEGIATE athletic association is supposed to be there to support the STUDENT-athlete. This should have been a cut and dry case of a kid doing what was best for him EDUCATION wise. This is what has Steele so upset and saying it’s bullshit. And it is.

Well said kyzrex. Funny how UK didn’t have any problem with their transfers from Wake and Rhode Island

You're missing the point. You can't apply normal logic to how the Ncaa works on these matters. That is the one certainty in these matters. They went way off into the weeds and didn't need to. The old "keep it simple stupid" logic applies to Ncaa transfer waivers. Guy is at a small school and wants to go to higher level. Going off into these unique and individual reasons is never, never, never a good idea.
