Re: So now that games are cancelled
DePaul is choosing not to play since X has past all protocol, etc. This game is on DePaul

Yeah like the Big East would drop a Chicago team.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

No need to pick up another team, UConn made it 10 and that is fine. No one goes to DePaul games.

Hops: Hey, I don’t mind you calling me a “(N)o one,” but I will put up my dukes when you state such about my wife!
Jesse: Loyola is now ranked #22 in the AP Poll (while that is a questionable ranking, it is a fact). Plus, did you forget Loyola’s 2018 Final Four Team? Loyola has a much better Coach in Porter Moser than DePaul’s Dave Leitao.
Now, I possess no insight on the real reason behind the cancellation of the DePaul-X game, I would suggest the aforementioned Coach Leitao has little reason to play games. Each game exposes his poor leadership to the new AD. Coach Leitao’s principal hope for retention is that the determination is made to bring him back under the theory this was a lost year due to COVID-19 and difficult for the AD to truly evaluate. Bringing Coach Leitao back enables DePaul to avoid eating another year of his remaining contract and DePaul’s Athletic Department finances have to be stressed.

No offense Chitown I always enjoy your comments and agree with you on Loyola’s accomplishments; I think we are strive for a final four. Why did DePaul hire their coach for the second time?

Hops: No offense taken at all ... thought I’d jokingly respond as proud South Sider of Chicago would. Attendance, when allowed, is generally sparse at the Wintrust Arena. Does not bother us, easier in and out from the adjacent parking lot. Incidentally, when X comes to Chicago it is one of the better draws. Marquette, naturally, is the best Big East draw.
As for why DePaul’s long-time AD re-hired Coach Leitao ... inexplicable. All we can imagine is that she would not feel threatened by him and a good coach would become the de facto leader within the Athletic Department. Often I have wondered whether she really wanted the Men’s Basketball Team to succeed. During pre-game gatherings she would tout all the other sports, including the two sports she played while a student, Women’s Basketball and Softball. The latter of which was coached for decades by her brother. Plus, she poured salt in the wound in April ‘20, and as a lame-duck AD, extending Coach Leitao’s contract through the ‘23-‘24 Season. Yeesh!
