This is actually turning into a solid debate. I think what some of you are missing is that more movement and passing in the offense would not just open up opportunities for some of the players that didn't shoot much but would also open up opportunities for Tu and Lyons. The difference being that they would be open for shots instead of taking contested shots.

Tu, Lyons, or anyone else can shoot all day long. The quantity of shots was never the issue, it was a lack of any real offense taking place.

One of the posts talking about foot speed and ability has valid points but I was never calling for anyone needing to do more than they are capable of. Most of the players were already on the floor, some would get a few extra minutes so that the starters could play that much harder when in but it is primarily about ball movement to get people open and to open driving lanes. It is also about making the smart play when you get to the rim. If you have a clean look take it and if not watch for the big man as his defender rotates to help on the drive. If that isn't open look to kick it out or even take it back out yourself to set-up. No need to force the action unless the shot clock is down.

Execution is always an issue and coaches shouldn't necessarily be blamed. It depends on circumstances. Are the same guys not executing? Do they seem to not get it or don't care? Are the players not talented enough to execute? etc. The lack of execution the past few years was mainly about certain players not caring as well as having a bad offensive set to execute. Skip's offensive set was aweful and Mack has similar issues. He has shown some growth over the years so maybe he will eventually work it all out. For now he is an average coach at best that has had just enough talent to carry him through - at least that is my take.

we certainly saw last night for those who watched the Spurs game what passing can do for a team but the Spurs are the exception rather that rule in the NBA. They also have guys that can come off the bench and bury threes from anywhere which also helps when you are trying to stretch the D. When they are hitting they look unstoppable but they also don't have 6' guards and they practice all day and been together for years without classes.

The Spurs also are a running and pressing team getting shots up before the D is set which also makes the ball move better.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
