By Musketeer Madness, 3/10/2021

The No. 7 seed Xavier Musketeers built a lead as large as 19 points in the first half against No. 10 seed Butler in the First Round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Wednesday night, but could not hold on in the second half as the Bulldogs eclipsed X, 70-69, in overtime. Zach Freemantle and Dwon Odom led Xavier with 14 points apiece. Freemantle added seven rebounds and four assists as well. Odom's point total marks a career-high for the freshman. With the loss, Xavier (13-8) is knocked out of the BIG EAST Tournament and appears to have significantly impacted its NCAA Tournament chances. The Musketeers will officially find out its postseason fate on Sunday as post-season tournament brackets are drawn up by the selection committees.
