The No. 16 Xavier Musketeers were edged by Villanova, 64-63, on Tuesday night before 10,349 fans at Cintas Center. After leading by six at half, Xavier was outscored in the second half, 34-27. Xavier did have an opportunity to win the game after taking possession of the ball down one with 11 seconds remaining in the game. But point guard Souley Boum's drive and attempt from the left side was blocked by Villanova senior Eric Dixon.

The visiting Wildcats were led by shooting guard Justin Moore who scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting and 4-of-7 from 3-point range.

Xavier was led by four players in double figures scoring including Souley Boum (17 points, 4-of-9 3-pt FG), Jerome Hunter (14 points), Jack Nunge (12 points, 10 rebounds), and Adam Kunkel (10 points, 2-of-6 3-pt FG). X played once again shorthanded due to injuries to Zach Freemantle and guards KyKy Tandy and Cam Kraft.

With the loss, Xavier drops to 20-8 overall (12-5 BIG EAST) while the Wildcats even their records to 14-14 (8-9 BE).

The Musketeers head to the road to New Jersey to take on Seton Hall for its second to last BIG EAST away game of the season on Friday evening. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
