Lady Muskies Pickup First Win of the Year Against Miami

In an intense matchup at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, OH, the Xavier women's basketball team narrowly edged out Miami RedHawks with a final score of 71-66 on Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center. Xavier took an early lead, scoring 27 points in the first quarter compared to Miami's 9. Despite Miami's efforts to close the gap, including a strong 21-point performance in the fourth quarter, Xavier's consistent scoring and defensive efforts secured their victory. Meri Kanerva led Xavier with 16 points, while Tae'lor Purvis contributed 14 points and 4 rebounds.

Miami showcased a resilient performance, particularly in the second half. Amber Tretter was a standout player for Miami, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Maya Chandler also made significant contributions with 13 points and 4 rebounds.

Despite their efforts, Miami struggled with their shooting accuracy, particularly from the three-point line, where they managed only 33.3%. Their free-throw shooting was also a point of concern, hitting just 64.7% of their attempts. However, Miami's ability to capitalize on second-chance points and points off turnovers kept them competitive throughout the game.

Xavier's balanced attack and efficient shooting were key factors in their win. The team shot 52.1% from the field and 41.7% from beyond the arc. Their free-throw shooting was also solid at 73.3%. Xavier's bench provided a significant boost, contributing 23 points. T
