X Handles Southern in Final Non-Conference Tuneup

Returning to action in their first game following the Crosstown Shootout, the Xavier Musketeers easily handled Southern, 79-59, in their final game of the non-conference schedule before 10,029 fans at Cintas Center on Tuesday night. It was a team-effort as four players finished in double figure scoring for Xavier. Souley Boum led the charge with 17 points including 5-of-6 shooting from floor including three made 3-pointers.
Zach Freemantle added 15 points and eight rebounds, Jack Nunge finished with 13 points and seven rebounds, and Colby Jones added 10 points with six assists. As a team, Xavier dished 27 assists on 29 made field goals.
Next up for Xavier is a road trip to the nation's capital as the Musketeers face off against Georgetown in their BIG EAST opener. Game time is set for 6:30 pm on Friday night.
