Xavier Rolls Past A&M–Corpus Christi Behind Balanced Attack
By Musketeer Madness, 11/28/2025

Xavier used a dominant second-half surge and a wave of balanced scoring to pull away from A&M–Corpus Christi, earning an 88–67 win Friday evening at the Cintas Center. The Musketeers improved to 5–3 on the season behind strong performances from Filip Borovicanin, Jovan Milicevic, and Anthony Robinson, as nine different players scored at least four points.

Xavier led 43–33 at halftime, but the game’s decisive stretch came in the opening minutes of the second half. After Milicevic drilled a transition three on Xavier’s first possession, the Musketeers unleashed a 10–0 burst that ballooned the lead to 20. Borovicanin punctuated the run with a three-for-three trip to the line, and from there the Musketeers never looked back. Their largest lead reached 27 with 5:32 remaining.

Borovicanin delivered one of the most complete stat lines of the night, finishing with 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass. His presence on the boards fueled Xavier’s 42–41 edge on the glass and kept numerous possessions alive. Milicevic added 14 points, knocking down four threes including several momentum-swinging shots early in the second half.

Robinson provided a major spark off the bench, tallying 12 points and five rebounds while finishing efficiently around the rim. His defensive motor also helped slow down the Islanders’ top scorers, as Xavier held Corpus Christi to just 35.3% shooting after halftime.

For A&M–Corpus Christi, DA Houston led the way with 13 points, while Nicholas Shogbonyo added nine points and nine rebounds. The Islanders hung tough for much of the first half, even leading by four early, but struggled to generate offense consistently. Their 4-of-15 mark from three-point range and 11 missed free throws kept Xavier firmly in control.

The Musketeers thrived in transition, outscoring the Islanders 28–7 in fast-break points and converting 14 Corpus Christi turnovers into 19 points. Xavier’s bench also played a pivotal role, contributing 35 points and maintaining the energy during key stretches.

With the convincing victory, Xavier continues building momentum heading into December. Next up for the Musketeers is St. Francis (PA) on Monday night at Cintas Center. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
