UCONN better not jump ship. If they defect to B12, we should never bail them out again.

Exactly right. They have a football team, it may be lousy now but it’s still a D1 team that in the past has been ranked in the top 10 of the country. If they can find a way to get into a football centric league that will pay them 10’s of millions of dollars more than the basketball centric BE will ever pay them, they would be fools not to do so.

Agreed, the money is in football. If they have a chance to salvage their football program, they need to take it. However, my point is that this should be the last time we bail them out. If it doesnt work with B12 (a very unstable league) they need to be permanent mid majors. Nobody else will take them unless the ACC gets desperate when they lose teams. They have to know what is at stake by leaving.

If UConn can get 44 million a year by moving to the B12, they won’t need any bailing out.

I hear talk that X wants to try to bring football back to X...if so, what a waste of resources. X cannot afford or compete in football.

There has been talk about X bringing football back at a non-scholarship level. The purpose would be to increase male enrollment and the cost of the team would be paid for partly by the players tuition payments and partly by outside support. But before we can talk about the wasting of resources and if they could compete, we would need to see the complete plan. It’s being looked at by some very sharp parties who are very savvy business people. They are not going to make the decision to go ahead unless it is something that makes sense in the long term. This has been discussed at length on the other board and has been also covered by local media. There are a lot of unknowns by the general public right now, but I do know that if it couldn’t work that it would not be even considered. Best just to wait and see and trust to the judgment of those who know the whole story.
