Next Year
I can't help but look forward to next year. When you look at our returning Front court players you have to be concerned. I like Hugley and Fletcher and have never seen Traore play but all three have had major knee injuries. It seems very risky to count on any of them being healthy and being able to contribute all season long. I'm not sure about the rest of the roster too. I believe Green, Foster, McKnight, Freemantle and Hunter are all gone too. College B-Basketball is all about the N.I.L. money now. Look at the SEC . They are spending like crazy. I think the PG Lewis from DC will be a big help but man to we need a major influx of talent. I wonder if we have the N.I. L. resources to compete? Building your team around Swain and Conwell seems set up for another N.I.T. year. We need to find a couple diamonds in the rough. We use to all the time

Re: Next Year
Green is the only one with eligibility left but don't expect him back. They'll have to rebuild again.Soo discouraging.I hate where college sports are now.I'd build around Swain and Conwell next year.Hopefully Traore is really solid

Re: Next Year
Hate to be negative but this program is off the tracks & has been except for Millers first Yr with Steele’s recruits. Good coaches need good players & unfortunately we don’t have enough of them now. Pitino has restored St John’s. Gonzaga & Creighton & now Marquette keep winning. Can’t understand why X a good school, great arena & facilities can’t put a better product on the court. Blame it on the Trf Portal & NIL these other programs have figured it out. Bringing in Rehabbing Trf’s has not worked out. Another NIT on the horizon will not help recruiting. Wonder now how long it will take to restore a once good program. Has Miller been seen in Bloomington? Nothing would surprise me.

Re: Next Year
If everything works out for next year we hopefully have:
PG - Roddie
SG - Conwell
SF - Swain
PF
C - Traore
Bench - Hughley, Fletcher?
Powell would have been a great asset for the upcoming year. This is another middle of the road BE squad, that basically has one player that can shoot. Relying on freshmen isn't going to work either. Disappointing.

Re: Next Year
It would be nice to get a player with the athleticism of Jalen Reynolds and the big guy 7+ " with the skills like a Nunge.
What was once a possible European track has suddenly gone quiet, and guys like Iceland's Fridrlk Leo Curtis, 7-footer and talented, are not on the X map but on schools like Arizona State, West Virginia, and Indiana. Heck, I'd like one of the big rebounders, Emmanuel Kanga. Kanga and Christian Jeffrey, but it looks like A-10 schools will be snagging them.
I thought OKGs were hungry and tenacious, not players who disappear at the end of games. Maybe Sean will pull a couple of big guys out of his hat, I HOPE, or find the magic combination of players but maybe without success this year and Indiana opening up, things will change for the worse.
I remember Coach Schmidt saying when he was at X, the reason X didn't recruit the top tier 5 star type player was that we were in a league that didn't attract them and they would say "not interested" so they never tried. Well we are in the BE and still not going for the top players.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Next Year
I have to believe it's the N.I.L. money .Don't think Miller will leave and I hope I'm right. I think all of us are disappointed in the last two years. Not sure if we have the top tier money to recruit any better than we have now. College basketball is becoming a minor pro league. I know Miller will turn things around if he can somehow pull in a David West, Brian grant or a Basketball Jones. I believe all three were 3 star recruits. Hang in there guys Miller will get this thing sorted
