I just came from practice. Here's the very unofficial report...
Probably about 50 - 75 X fans in the stands. We all showed our approval as the time arrived and departed...this place will be Xavier East tomorrow
On to the team...
It was a pretty quick 40 minutes. The team was split in to two squads and they rotated between shooting 3s/mid range jumpers and free throws for almost the entire time.
D Brown must have read that Martelli said he can't shoot the 3 b/c he was on FIRE. X looks well adjusted to the rims at Verizon.
The three seniors were tearing it up from outside. About halfway through I noticed a couple of Purdue coaches were sitting about two rows from me and at one point they gave each other a look and a big sigh/eye roll (I think it was right after Josh Duncan hit back-to-back NBA range threes). I seriously doubt they are excited about the possibility of playing us on Saturday!
All around X was a very loose team (joking w/ each other), but focused and intense when hitting the drills. You could sense that they understood where they were and what they had to do...and that they felt comfortable living up to that challenge.
Miller called the squad together with about 4 minutes left and had a brief conversation with the team then he headed for the locker room or media room.
At that point the squad got in a line at half court and went through a round of half court shots (each player took at least one shot). Josh was first or second to go and his shot hit the back of the rim, went about 10-15 feet in the air and then straight back down.

Thanks much, jamal. Sounds like X is healthy and ready, and that's all we can ask.

You mean Sean didn't have the team get on the floor and spell out XAVIER with Sean as the I?
Did you notice how well Drew was cutting and if his speed was as in the past?

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

It wasn't that type of practice...mostly a shoot around. About the most cutting he did was to receive a pass, take a dribble/make a cut and then shoot a jumper. If he was hurting I doubt Sean would have revealed prior to the game. What I did see looked good. This team had an excellent shoot around! I just hope they didn't blow it all today.
I talked to about a half dozen X-fans...people out here are psyched. If you aren't on your way to DC, it's time to hop in the car!
GO X!!!!!!!!!
