If you are going to analyze basketball, you should look at it like a chess game as an action has effects beyond the immediate result.
Revolutionary.

Yes, Brad, we have several (self-annointed) very forward-thinking, complex thinkers on this board! Really, when you think about it, neurosurgery and molecular biology pale next to college basketball theory! Fortunately, we have individuals who can lead us out of the darkness into the light.

Sorry neutral, I didn't mean to imply that you shouldn't have posted the article. I simply felt the article was poorly done. I greatly appreciate your efforts to find X related articles and feel there is no reason for you to screen them. Given that this is a message board it seems appropriate that posters would comment on the article when they are inspired to do so.

Additionally I don't blame Mack solely for the lack of development of the rest of the team. He and some of the players negatively impacted the development of other players but each player also must look in the mirror. There are also cases of a player just not having the ability to play at a certain level and no one is to blame. Just because Mack makes mistakes, doesn't mean he is a bad coach but the degree of his mistakes does indicate he is not a great coach. At this point he is solid. He has a good W/L ratio and solid record in the tourney. He makes his strategy work but it isn't particularly enjoyable to watch nor does it maximize the talent of all players. These issues will likely improve as he recruits the style of player that fits his system. Experience may also help. I'm not as down on Mack as some of you think. I'm disappointed with some of the things he allowed to happen and how painful some games were to watch but in many respects he is a solid coach.
