Hope he does well. Always a good X and O guy. I am still not happy about the Buick to Lexus comment, since nothing has changed. Hope he understands that final 4’s and NCAA championships can be won in the Big East and at Xavier.

Kudos to the Administration, notably President Hanycz and VP/AD Christopher. Admittedly there were doubts about whether the Program would take the necessary action. They did and delivered beyond expectations.

Nine years ago today Xavier joined the Big East Conference. Today, is like a Grand Re-Entrance.

Unquestionably, being a member of the Big East played a significant factor in the return of Coach Miller. Yes, it is Miller (NCAA) 64 Time!

Moving from the A-10 to the BEast = BIG Change. When Miller was at X, they were in the A-10. No comparison…ask Richmond.

Top 50 recruiting classes to Top 20 recruiting classes = Big Change. Blueitt and others don’t come to X in the A-10. Certainly none of the current recruits are going to an A-10 school. Don’t think that any of the future recruits will be A-10 caliper players either.

Xavier has also updated and improved the practice facilities, training rooms, and Cintas itself since he was here last.

Lots of things have been changed and have improved since he was last here. Just not the product on the floor. But I think that is in the past now. Give him a summer and fall to work with the group and I think we will see immediate change and improvement next season.

That’s my hope! It was just a regrettable comment. Good reason to “never burn bridges.” With social media, your words will not be forgotten.

I suspect A person who played in the BE might know something about the BE. I also suspect that Sean's coaching in the Pac 12 was a step up from the A-10 and therefore he doesn't have that A-10 track in his mind
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

MM….I agree with you. My response was to LG’s comment that “nothing has changed”. A LOT has changed.

I am probably one of the few Xavier fans who does have some reservations about hiring Miller. when i asked another D1 head coach about whether Xavier should go after Miller, his response was "i don't think you can hire Sean Miller right now." needless to say, he couldn't believe they did it.

either way, i don't know what's going to come down on him from the NCAA but apparently Xavier felt it wasn't a big enough deal to warrant NOT hiring him. i haven't followed everything that went down in the whole Arizona fiasco, but anyone who thinks Miller didn't know anything about what was happening is completely naive and if you're willing to overlook that, then fine. it concerns me a bit. i'm not equating this to the Browns Deshaun Watson trade, but it seems as though Xavier has "sold part of its soul" to make this happen. and i get it - it's a business. Xavier Basketball is what makes this university "run" and if it's not successful, everything else takes a hit.

I feel awful for Travis. he put his heart and soul into this program. heck, he's been a part of Xavier Basketball for almost 1/3 of his life. i'm sure there isn't anyone out there who wanted Xavier to win as badly as he did. maybe, like Byron said, he was just too nice a guy. i don't know. i do believe the players played hard for him, that they loved him (well MOST of them) and seeing from all the former players who have come out to support him, you can't deny the impact he had on the program. maybe he was better as asst/recruiter. either way, i hope he gets a shot somewhere to figure "it" out for himself.

there were two main things that came to light in the Steele era that really were the reasons for his departure: he never had a DUDE. Tu Holloway tweeted that in Steele's time Xavier had a bunch of #3-6 guys, a couple #2's (Naji, Scruggs, and maybe late in his career, Tyrique), but never a #1. you can't win in the BIg East without at least one DUDE. Xavier never got that guy. couple that with being ranked 250th or worse in 3 pt shooting in the nation all 4 years and that's hard to win in major D1 basketball in this day and age, the way the game is played.

also, don't let the hiring of MIller distract you from the fact that he lost to a Xavier team in the Sweet 16 that started Quentin Goodin, Tyrique Jones, and Malcolm Bernard.

for the most part, i will say that i'm pleased with this hire, but i do have reservations about it. Miller is no angel. hopefully he and the program don't get dinged too badly when the NCAA finishes its investigation.

LET'S GO X!

The landscape of college basketball and college sports has changed the last two years. As I have mentioned before teams take on the persona of their coach and Steele a nice guy was soft. He got run over by officials, and other coaches as well as his players. These rubbed off on his players and X was considered the softest team this year in BE (this I heard from multiple sources). It is also noted that having Scruggs come back this year (and last) and losing Wilcher (big blow) really hurt this offense and the offense stalled with Paul at PG. I don't consider Miller a risk especially considering that Mack was the sleaziest coach that X has ever had (watch the Dino setup). I'm sure we will lose a few recruits and current players (Free is gone), but hopefully we can manage to keep Jones and Edwards and add a couple. I will be patient with Miller, but it won't take long to get back to NCAA Tourney.
