Think Abel can contribute but a little surprised that we would burn a scholarship this year for him to sit out a year. My kid goes to IU and he can probably be a pretty good SG with good 3 pt range

We will only have Abell for one year of playing time right?

Never mind, I see from this article that he has two seasons left. http://www.indystar.com/article/2013051 ... ng-Indiana

i have reviewed Remy Abell's stats with Indiana and they are unremarkable. Playing time 12 minutes a game, low scoring numbers, and a freshman that came in played over him. I do not know anything about the player, but Indiana seems to have chosen not to use him much .

rather than state it again just read the post at the top of page 2

maybe reading stats don't tell the whole story
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

I have had several knowledgeable basketball fans with IU connections tell me that we got a good one in Remy Abell. There were only so many minutes to allocate and as MM pointed out very good players in front of him. Also, he likely was not a Crean favorite and that can determine a lot also.

I trust the IU people who told me he is good and they were sorry to lose him. The freshman he played behind was Yogi Ferrell, an Indiana All Star and the best player in last year's class from Indiana.

I will take him.

I trust he'll work out. Abell will be happy here. He's already expressed that Mack is great and likes the X players and their teamwork. Some posters don't approve of any commitment.

The fact of the matter is that we didnt have 5 players who could have seen as many ticks as this kid did at IU. This is an upgrade to the top half of our roster. Plus he seems to have a good attitude.

This kid can clearly help us. My only contention was whether it was worth burning a scholarship this year while he sits out this year or wether we would have been better served getting an immediately eligible player. I predict that this guy will probably be a starting 2 guard when he does become eligible.
