expect him to play D it will be up to him to get playing time. With Sean's not playing 8-9 players he better take advantage and work hard

Re: Who leaves? Who stays?
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

He needed season-ending leg surgery for a stress fracture.

Re: Who leaves? Who stays?
If Free stays, which is doubtful, he will sit further down the bench relative to Stanley (hopefully he stays, as he was another waste of talent), because X's defense took a significant hit when he had to guard wings on the perimeter. With that said, he is a good offensive player, who would see time in certain matchups, and in zone. However, he no longer will have a coach who demanded lock down D from some (see Kyky) and a bar two inches underground relative to defense when evaluating Free.

Nothing against Scruggs, but it's time to move on... Same for Johnson (I hear he declared)... Dan

Re: Who leaves? Who stays?
look - we can all agree that Freemantle has defensive deficiencies but his inability to guard WINGS was NOT why he should have been benched more. you saw these last 4 games, when he played less than 30 minutes, he was actually able to play slightly above average defense. I'm not sure WHAT you've seen in Stanley to make you believe he can contribute on this team against Big East talent. he wasn't even ahead of Cesare so if Free, Cesare, and Nunge all come back, those 3 dudes are our top 4/5 combinations in games. besides another PG, Miller needs another 4/5 that can shoot the 3 from the portal. those are the two biggest needs and will be even MORE if Free leaves.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:55 pmIf Free stays, which is doubtful, he will sit further down the bench relative to Stanley (hopefully he stays, as he was another waste of talent), because X's defense took a significant hit when he had to guard wings on the perimeter. in regards to KyKy, he has to be able to guard other GUARDS and if he couldn't do that as well as some others, then other guys played in front of him (we are talking about LAST season here because there's simply not enough evidence for this past season to determine it). if he could have figured out how to give two s#$%s about just becoming a halfway decent defender he would have played more. he didn't and he hasn't. maybe Sean can convince him of that and he can find his swagger again. this is where i understand some of things Steele decided to do, even though you guys disagree. as a coach, each player has a different BAR and if you've coached enough you understand that. not on effort or things of that nature but in regards to mistakes on the floor. if you're the 7th/8th guy and you get in the game and your dude blows by you twice in the first two minutes and you turn it over, you're not staying in very long. it's that simple. guys who "start" or who play more minutes have a longer leash on some of those things because they are asked to do MORE so inevitably, will have more chances to "mess up", so to speak. if you don't believe that then you haven't coached enough higher level basketball (not even college but it's the same in HS).
i would love to see KyKy contribute this season but if Sean can't get him back on track, then maybe you can take back some of the Steele hate in regards to him.

Re: Who leaves? Who stays?
I agree with you regarding Stanley and believe that Free can be effective but his minutes need to be similar to what Jonas played him and not the excessive amount that Steele used him. I think Miller will find a way to use Tandy and get the most out of him. Kunkel’s defense is terrible and he played a lot of minutes under Steele. Maybe Tandy can pass the heck out of the ball and Miles can be the BE Defensive Player of the year. I can’t wait for next season.

This is the reason I'm not fully convinced yet Nunge is coming back. Hopefully announces his intentions soon.Jesseandrippers wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 7:46 amScruggs cant play a 15th year in college. Jack has also been in college for 5 years already. I can't imagine many people would want to stick around for 6. Does he want to be a 24 year old playing against 18-19 year olds?

His kid brother lives with him and goes to X and might be a walk on next year, so maybe he will stay.
