Lets just assume X beats St. Joes tmrw and then goes on to win the tourney. Does the A-10 only get 1 team in the dance after Dayton's loss today, UMASS's loss today and St. Joe's loss tmrw night to our Muskies?
Could this seriously happen to the A-10?

I dunno....Dayton's RPI and SOS are impressive...a teamlike that does not get snubbed....but they deserve a snub.

Re: A-10 at large after UMASS loss
Temple has an outside shot depending on how they fare the rest of the tournament. If they make the finals & it's a close game, they might sniff the NCAA's....especially since every other bubble team has managed to fall short.
St. Joe's is still a viable team if they make the finals as well.
Dayton/RI -- NIT
UMass -- might still make it b/c of the other bubble teams losing today as well.

UMASS should be in regardless. But after tonight, they seem like a first round loss come the dance.

I think Lunardi had UMASS as one of the last 4 in before last night. They will be sweating things out until Sunday. It would be sad if the A10 only got one team in after all the pub we got in the non conference season.

Re: A-10 at large after UMASS loss
This morning on Mike & Mike, both Seth Davis and Andy Katz had Dayton, SJU and UMass out as of now, with Katz saying that SJ could come back into play with a win over X tonight.
But if SJU wins tonight and then loses tomorrow, I'd have to say they're about as much on the bubble as it's possible to be.

Re: A-10 at large after UMASS loss
Interesting scenarios being set up.
If St. j's beats X i believe they're in. A team with a top 50 rpi and 2 w's over a top 10 team plus a 20 point win over a Big East bubble team(Villanove) and a solid tourney history would be tough to leave out.
If St. J's beats X and loses in the final I'd think we're looking at 3 teams. X(lock), St.J(solid bubble resume), Charlotte/Temple(automatic).
If X wins the automatic bid I think the league is left with one rep. St.
IMO UMass blew their spot.

I hope you're rights, sweens, but I'd be very suprised if the A10 walked away with 3 bids. A LOT of things would have to fall into place for that to happen, including the right teams winning and losing in other conf. tourneys.

Re: A-10 at large after UMASS loss
No team has ever been left out with an RPI and SOS both at 30 or better. Dayton was @ 31 and 29 respectively this morning. However, if St. Joes were to manufacture some miracle today and pull off the upset I think they get the second A10 bid, and Dayton possibly becomes part of history.

You wonder how a 6-6 over the last 12 will factor in and the fact that they are a weak team on the road.Brian Fantana wrote:I dunno....Dayton's RPI and SOS are impressive...a teamlike that does not get snubbed....but they deserve a snub.

Give them a play in game and they will have a chance.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
