Tenn 41, S.Carolina 40
Pearl just said DEVAN DOWNEY and Zam Fredric k were the keys to SC's first half. Also, keep an eye on highlights of this one. UT had a halfcourt attempt to end the first half that wound up bouncing on top of the backboard a couple times and off the shot clock, then fell through the hoop. It didn't count, but was still pretty unique.

Downey is a stud.Things might be a little brighter up in Clifton if he had stayed.

Tennessee ended up winning 89-87 in a game with a great finish. Lofton hit a 3 with 11 seconds left, and then Downey missed a 3 with 4 seconds to go.
Tenn. shot well from the floor overall (55%) but poorly from the arc (29%).

You know how it is, mm; your star player sometimes just lets it fly, especially if he's been doing it all season.

Sorry, MM, I didn't see your post earlier. The game was on Channelsurfing.net.
I think it was a poor decision by Downey to fire up the three at the end. They had enough time when their possession started to try and get a good look, but I think he went into "I'll be the hero" mode. Maybe he saw what Lofton did and figured he would answer with a bomb of his own. The problem is that Lofton was born to shoot. Downey probably should have used his quickness to drive and score for the tie, or drive and dish, maybe creating an open three for Zam *****. Of course, there's something nice about players who want to take the big shot and Downey is more than capable of hitting his share. The kid's a heck of a player.

I could not understand the announcer saying SCU needed to make a three at the end. I think with 1.1 seconds they should have been looking for a good two to tie and hope for the best in overtime.
I think they had Digger disease.
