When you come right down to it, was it the coaching?

How about missed shots.

I mentioned a few days ago that, on Monday night's radio show, Coach Whitford mentioned that X really has only one good perimeter defender (Burrell) and SJU has several good perimeter players, meaning one or more is likely to have a good night. And Calathes is much taller than SB, so you can't stick Stanley on him.

It just seems like SJU always has a tall shooter that we can't match up with. It's frustrating.

Poor outside shooting obviously killed us but St Joe's size was a big factor also.I thought going into league play that they were our biggest threat.I'm surprised they struggled as much as they did.How did they finish behind Richmond?

For my part, I expect something different than a shot clock violation on the first possession of the game, especially from the conference COY.

COY isn't playing - the players just didn't perform all game.
Effort like that next week = early exit

Muskieman told me, it's NOT the coaching! Drew is physically back, but he wasn't mentally sharp v. St Joes. He reminded me of frustrating moments from Lionel Chalmers - remember, ocassionally too much dribbling, not enough passing while the shot clock winds down, the offense stalls and the defense catches up. Sean will talk to him. Meanwhile, they all need to get their treys back! Ya live and die by them, just ask Pat Calathes!

But at this point in his senior year, LC was on fire, leading the team and scoring HUGE buckets. As of today, Drew's not close to where LC was down the stretch in '04.

First I am a believer in match ups. We don't match up well against St. Joe - as implied by posters above. Secondly, their defense in the first half in the last game made us miss, but in the second half we simply had one of those games - six players in double figures and NONE of them were hot. It happens. Better then than next week, eh?

Finally, Calathes was as hot as we were cold and his big run occurred when Stanley was on the bench.

Lessons to be learned for the Big Dance. Lets hope we don't draw an opponent that can adequately expose our weaknesses.
