On the postgame WLW show, Coach Whitford said that X had that "deer in headlights" problem in the first half.

How could that be??? It's Drew's 4th NCAA tourney, Stan's 3rd, Josh's 3rd, Derrick's 2nd, B.J.'s 3rd, etc.,
and we've already played NCAA tourney teams Tennessee, Kansas State, Kent State and Indiana, in addition to Temple and St. Joe's.

If there's any team in the country that SHOULDN'T have NCAA jitters, it should be a #3 Xavier playing a #14 Georgia. I don't get it.

It seems like X's NCAA teams almost never come into the tourney ready to rock, other than the Elite Eight team. It seems like no matter who we've played (and beaten) during the regular season, our guys always doubt themselves when the ball goes up.

Despite what the players have been saying, I think this team had lost a little confidence in itself. They certainly looked the part shortly after the second half started. Seeing Drew drill that teardrop was a thing of beauty. It was the same shot that he barely got backboard on in the first half.

Neut. remember in the '04 tourney we had to overcome an 11 point deficit against Louisville...Dante's shot was very much like Dedrick's 4 point play.

You may be right, Big. Hope this is enough of a confidence builder that the guys come out firing on Saturday.

You forget about the elite team that they were behind against Louisville and Mississippi St early and turned it around in the second half for 10 and 15 point wins.

I know because it was sitting in the middle of some UL fans that harressed me all first half espically after I told them X would win when we were down big time.

Agreed, mm & real, but in '04, we were the lower seed and hadn't won 27 games coming into the tourney.

This experienced, upperclassmen-dominated team seems like it should be less prone to jitters, but I could be wrong.

I thought we looked like a three seed. We played hard, smart, and most important we WON.

I thought we would win when we were behind at half. My guess was that we would wear them down and that they would not continue to shoot so hot and they we would out will them which we did.
