Not that it mattered, but I thought there was an intentional foul on Burrell at the end of the game. Isn't grabbing a leg intentional and not going after the ball? Perhaps Cahill has no clue what an intentional foul looks like.

Ultimately, though, Congrats all around to coach Miller, staff and most of all OUR SWEET SIXTEEN PLAYERS!!! Way to go X.

Just mentioned it on the Cahill thread. Same foul called intentional in the duke/WVa game. Cahill was trying. I noticed a bogus call he made in the first half and one of the other refs made a call at the other end a few seconds later as a make up call.

Are the refs ever reviewed or have a job performance evaluation? One would hate to think the refs are making calls out of nowhere to allow one team to win over another. I understand it can be a close call being in the moment, but sometimes a call needs to be made, even if it means a big name school goes down.

Just an observation, but in Duke's game and near loss, at the end after the no call inbound by Belmont, I thought I saw coach K give a nod to one of the refs, like "I knew i could count on you." Or perhaps, the ref was just explaining something to coach?

nothing ever happens to refs...that's why they continue to become more of a joke every year. most of them are so clueless they should never be let in an arena as a spectator, let alone on the court.

Refs are reviewed but basically they lose tourney privileges if it happen too often. The guy that reviews the refs obviously is pro-ref but the guy that grades them at Cintas is a honest grader and has some great stories about poor calls.

Cahill has been around so long he is like Valentine and he gets a pass a lot of times. Many change leagues when their rep gets too bad in one league. During the season a lot of these guys are pro big six and that is what keeps them in the game.

My brother-in-law was a Pac 10 ref for years and he will tell you some of the worst refs get away with murder. Many are just lazy but some have a bias for the big man or the little guy and let them get away with crap that is not as obvious.

As it should be no. No foul calls unless something's broken.

To be completely honest, I would not be surprised if in the next 3 or 4 years the NCAA has his its own Tim Donaghy scandal.

The fact is that just about every game has 4 or 5 really bad calls, and the players and coaches have to learn to deal with it.

Although I am holding out hope that some day a charismatic coach will pull a red flag out of his pants pocket and throw it on to the court ala an NFL Challenge.

As far as the intentional foul thing is concerned, if it is debatable as to whether or not it was intention just keep it a regular foul.
