Thoughts on Kevin Love

While I don't want to get ahead of myself, after watching Kevin Love play for UCLA last night, I have these thoughts. First of all why does he look so soft? Is he just another big stiff who plays in an overrated league? I for one would invite you to watch Butler play this afternoon and watch the Howard kid. He is just as big and in my mind has more moves with the ball and can run the floor. Once again I believe the "hype machine" (i.e. Tyler Hansbrough - See how hard Tyler runs to the bench! See how quickly Tyler raises his hand after a foul!, See how hard Tyler runs out on the floor before the game, etc.) time and time again makes the point about high profile teams and players when actually most players at this level hustle and try hard. In short Xavier should fear NOBODY. We are as good as any team around.

My thought on Kevin Love is that he is just as good as advertised. He is really strong and a good finisher at the basket. He is not a great defensive player and he is not very quick, other than that he is pretty darn good. If X does face UCLA, in my opinion, Love will be the best post player XU has played against since Sheldon Williams. (You may be thinking Beasley but Beasley really isn't a 4 or 5, next year Beasley will playing the 3, but Love will still be a 4.)

Thats just my opinion though.

Love looks the real deal to me. As for his defense, seven blocks is nothing to sneeze at and we know our bigs sometimes don't go up with the strength they are advertised to have. Not looking ahead either, but he will be a difficult match up for us and foul trouble once again for Duncan.

Didn't most of his blocks occur when the shooter was standing, flatfooted, unde the basket?

I've seen him play a dozen times and can tell you that Drew and company will expose him as being a bit ponderous.
