An ESPN poll shows that 54% of the people pick WVU as the most likely lower seed to reach the final four. I guess this should not be surprising since they are from the Big East with a high profile coach and the others play high profile high seeds.

One more thing - Boeheim said he didn't get Xavier. I wonder if he gets us now?

The only thing Boeheim doesn't get is how to get to the tournament, even with the backing of all of ESPN.

Actually, for what it's worth, 66% of SportsNation voters picked X to beat Purdue. So somebody has respect. But in the end, it makes no difference what people think. If we lose, they'll be justified, and the only way to prove them wrong is to keep winning.

Larkin was just on 700WLW and said that he thinks this team is different from any other Xavier team because from the coach to the walk-on to the AD think they can win the NC. He said that Skip was a great guy but their teams never thought they could go that far. The Xavier nation is behind them and that is all they need to know.

I'm not surprised by Larkin's sentiments. I think that confidence is a direct result of scheduling Big-6 conference teams throughout the first half. X is not going to be intimidated by the school name on anyone's jersey -- a problem I think a couple of David West's teams had. In addition, they're probably the first or second most deep and balanced team X has ever had.

I just checked and while I was at Xavier 1974-1978, the team won all of 48 games. It is fun just to step back and enjoy. I don’t care about respect. I don’t care about national attention, although a story about our graduation rate would be nice. The hair on the back of my neck still tingles when I hear Xavier and national championship in the same sentence. It is funny as heck that ESPN is draped in black mourning the loss by Duke.

In my 4 years at Xavier we won a total of 35 games. This team alone has won 29 so far- 4 more and it's 33. How about one year's team almost matching 4 years?
