Today, one of the reasons he picked UCLA was because of their bench strength. Does he even know who comes off the bench? BJ and even Dante can be game changers. Their bench is more to provide relief. How the hell does he keep his job?

Keefe came off the bench and garnered 18 pts. and 12 boards in 26 minutes against WKU. That's a very big night for him, but I'm guessing that performance went into Digger's thinking.

Supporting Digger you neglected to mention Duncan's off the bench games ... 23 vs RIU, 16 vs UD, etc etc.

(1) I wasn't "supporting" Digger, but only trying to show what was possibly behind his rationale. There's a difference.

(2) Duncan isn't coming off the bench now, so his contributions when he WAS coming off the bench can't possibly be an argument in favor of how strong our bench is or is NOW.

well on the rivals game preview they gave x a moderate edge on the bench...and mentioned that the top 3 bench guys for ucla combine to average 10 points and 8 rebounds a night...not very impressive.

Why does everyone quote offensive numbers when looking at bench strength. The UCLA bench, Mata Real, Keefe,
and especially Aboya are lock-down defenders and shot blockers. So, lets not get carried away here.

and all three of them are lock down defenders? all three may be solid defenders, but LET'S NOT GET CARRIED AWAY HERE.

Let his ignorance continue---he'll learn a little more this evening......greatness is 40 minutes away from X at tip off---THEY NEED TO GO OUT AND TAKE IT!!!!!!

You use offensive numbers because in the long run, outside of giving your starter a blow, if you go to your bench because you're not scoring, then you want punch.
If you go to your bench because of foul trouble, you pray you just get good minutes until you can get your starter back.
Damn seldom do you go to your bench looking for a "stopper." It happens, but not very often.
UCLA's bench (four players who have played in at least 25 of their games) avergae ten points a game ... our bench averages 20 ppg.
Which one do you want?
BTW, So Keefe went off with 18 the other night ... Digger and his apologists didn't point out that he scored two points against A&M in 20 minutes; three points against Stanford in the Pac-10 finals in 23 minutes; or two points against Cal.

Digger knows nothing. As the announcer mentioned tonight, of the first 51 points in the game none were from the bench of UCLA. Of course no one will mention how foolish his analysis is at times. BTW their bench scored 3 points Digger.
