Give me Burrell over Roberts
Stanley has the heart of a champion, has played in NCAA games has scored tons of points and plays lock down defense. Roberts left with his tail between his legs because he can't handle adversity. I'm glad Stan came to X and Roberts chose UD. Make no mistake Roberts is a great player but Stanley is a champion.

Then again Robert has Binnie another sure fired star...he did get invited to a Nike camp...he lead the group in marshmallow burning.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

I'm not quite sure why you think Burrell is so much more an invaluable player than Roberts. Roberts has taken a team that doesn't have six players in double figures every game and gotten them in the top 20. And I'm not sure if you watched Stan his frosh and sophomore year but personally i was expecting 20+ points and a decent defender, not another Justin Cage, which isn't a bad thing believe me. Just can't be sure of that sort of judgement when in a game where Roberts plays limited minutes due to illness.

I just replied to this question in a different thread.
to sum up the other reply: We can both appreciate the greatness of Stanly Burrell, yet acknowledge that Brian Roberts is a better bball player.

Yup. I'll take a lockdown defensive player over a scorer any day. There are lots of player that score, but a high scorer cannot necessarilry make a team a real threat. A player who can consistently shut down another teams star scorer is going to do far more to make a team competetive day in day out.

Burrell all day...Roberts is solid, and likely the better scorer, but Burrell does all the intangibles.

Re: Give me Burrell over Roberts
Burrell contributes both offensively and defensively, and is a big part of X's success, clearly.
But just as clearly, a 20ppg scorer, who's lit up big-name teams, is just as valuable to Dayton's success as well. Yes, X played great team defense on Roberts last night, but you can't overlook that UD's offensive options were limited, and X's entire defensive game plan was geared towards limiting a sick Brian Roberts.
If Roberts could transfer to X, we'd welcome him with open arms, I'm sure.
You might as well say that Dan Dakich is a better, or more valuable, player than Michael Jordan based on the results of one game.

Stats from last night:
SB 25mins 13pts
BR 24mins 5pts
Stan completely shut down BR and got his own points. Head to head BR may be a better scorer (not last night) but SB is better all around player.
We've got scorers, dayton can keep BR.

Re: Give me Burrell over Roberts
And all this talk about BR being sick is a joke. The guy had 8 days to prepare for this game and IF he was the all-american dayton fans think he is, he would have been ready.
