Thanks for the Board, guys

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Skeldons, Andy Mac, Mr. N, Shadow and whomever I may be forgetting for putting the time and energy into making Musketeer Madness available to us all.

I particularly want to commend all concerned for taking the high road when the other board started up in mid season. Some of the "new board" folks couldn't just leave and go where they wanted to be, and had to take shots on the way out. Rather than shoot back, the calmer heads just let it run its course. I'm not sure I would have held my fire. There were a lot of defections, some welcome, some not. It is probably better that we have two boards. Some folks think posting pix of naked women, homophobia and mysoginy is still fun on the internet, even at an advanced age; and it probably better that they feel free to do it. It was just a big distraction, IMHO. I miss a little of the tension, but not much.

I am noting in particular that for whatever reason, there is no pressure here to become a "sponsoring member", i.e. pay an additional fee for some privileged status. Whoever is footing the bill to maintain the site, thank you.

A word about civility. When I first came to this board, I was appalled at the intramural baiting and outright hostility between those with a common love of the Muskies. I have to admit I eventually fell into it myself. For whatever reason, the two boards have in sum substantially reduced the sniping, and I think it is for the better. What brings us together is the love and appreciation of Xavier and Xavier basketball. I'm making a new effort to express contrary opinnion without flaming the opposing writer. I invite all here to consider doing the same. We have so much to share and enjoy, and life is just too short for protracted pissing matches. Peace out, brother Musketeers.

Agreed. I have no problem and welcome multiple opportunities to discuss XU basketball, the rest of it I could care less about. Thanks for the time, effort, and $$ it takes to provide this outlet to discuss our luv for our Musketeers! Oh...is this OT?

I say there is plenty of room for both boards and see no need for either to lay wood to the other. One of the great things about the Xavier Nation is its diversity of opinion. I may not like what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. I know it's a cliche but it's appropriate. And if I don't particularly care for what you have to say or for the way you say it, I just look elsewhere and return at my pleasure. Oh, I might twist a few tails before I go in a harmless way, but I understand.
It's like having two buffets available. If someone in the one line tries to shove a cucumber where the sun don't shine, move on. He'll go away eventually. And you never have to join in his food fight.

We go to more than one bar, more than one restaurant, listen to more than one radio station, so more than one board shouldn't be a threat to anyone. For a long time, we had two boards, anyway, so I don't see it as that big a deal.

After next Monday's final, we're officially in the dreaded offseason, and then the REALLY wacky threads start up!

Like Q said so well, there is more than enough room for 2 boards. No need to denigrate one of them - both have their good (and and not so good) points. In the end everyone first and foremost is a Xavier fan.

I don't post here near as much as I used to but I still come here to read some of the more knowledgeable guys like Muskieman, et al.

I also want to thank everybody for this board. It is my main contact with the university I love so much.

I wish that they would set up an annual fee to cover their costs and and pay for improvements.

I had promised Jay drinks in SA for the FF, but now I don't think I care to even watch those games.
