One of the stranger stories you'll read about the college b-ball world.

Looks like this turned out to be a windfall for new Univ. of Detroit Mercy coach Ray McCallum, who's turning over his new roster as well.
(Eli) Holman is the third new player to join the Titans, who signed junior college forwards Thomas Kennedy and Xavier Keeling in recent weeks.
McCallum, who recruited Holman to Indiana, also announced Wednesday that centers Justin Sample and Russel Allen have been released from their scholarships. Sample started nine of the 12 games he played last season before becoming academically ineligible. Allen averaged less than a point in 13 games as a reserve.
The Titans went 7-23 last season, their worst performance in Watson's 15-year tenure.

Per ESPN.com, Holman has to sit out a year ("Holman is not eligible to play for Detroit Mercy until the 2009-2010 season."), but I have to assume that the JC's can play right away.

Detroit Mercy will probably not be on IU schedule any time soon.

Crean's saying that Holman's outburst was "orchestrated" to make his transfer to UD-M easier. Might be right.
