Yes, we have an elite camp. No idea on what we pay the summer coaches. While I agree this is probably going beyond the intent of the rules, it's kinda like a patent that has expired...some schools probably really benefited from this practice a few years ago, but doubt it does now since many schools do it now.

Good points. Of course, if you're one of the schools that can afford to pay the coaches a little more than the going rate, you may still have a leg up on your competition.

Any good thing can be corrupted if improper controls and suspect moral characters are in charge.

Well said muskieman. Look what happened to musketeer madness for example ... kidding, kidding. Hey, I looked for you at a couple summer league games but didn't see you, were you able to make it out?

Yeah, this has been going on for a long time. I went to Rick Pitino's basketball camp when he was at UK in 94 or 95. There were kids as young as six or seven. I remember the whole camp gawking over a six or seven year old running circles around Antoine Walker (which I guess isn't that hard when you're literally half the other guy's size). Rick Pitino only showed up once for a scrimmage the team put on for us, and then to give a speech. They divided us into age groups and then several teams for each age group. We had different practices a couple times a day and games against other teams. All of the coaches for the teams were some how affiliated with UK and it was clearly a recruiting ploy. We stayed in the dorms, ate in one of the cafeterias. We toured all their facilities, including the Wildcat Lodge, which is supposedly restricted, had meetings with a few of the players, and there were various scholarships available. They even made it a point to have a cheer leading camp at the same time!! A lot of players were there to get scouted, others just to improve, and I don't doubt that Pitino recruited a couple players who attended his camps over the years.
