Powell's uncle was big in getting Derrick Brown to Xavier and is close with Miller, so it sounds like it is between Xavier and Michigan State. I've seen Powell play a few times the past few seasons and I was not impressed with his shooting and playmaking, but he is highly ranked. Kriisa will be too expensive for Xavier and I think we are fine with what we have coming in. Huggins needs to stop day drinking.
I agree, and I never liked Kriisa to start with besides it still gives us room for Dontae Russo-Nance.
As far as Powell, I have only seen some of his game but, If Sean likes him, he might have a place in a Seam Miller lineup.
I wouldn't take Kriisa even if he wanted no NIL money and agreed to be the 8th guy off the bench. I too want DR-N per my nephew, who said he's a very good player. He was on campus this week, no?

As far as the Otis Cambell of BBall, I responded to Doc's article trying to mitigate the comment. I wasn't that offended, but that bloated loaf has been cavorting with pigs too long without getting muddy. I commented on the article with:

"I don't hate him for that, but for having multiple drunk driving accidents sanitized by UC alum, HC prosecutor Joe Deters and kept under wraps by Columbia Olds by offering the families new Cadillacs. I hate how he was a philanderer, cheating endlessly on his wife who was riddled with cancer, and how he also cheated with booster's wives. I also hated how he turned UC into a laughingstock, with a zero-grad rate over a decade, and having multiple felons on the team who acted with impunity, his cheating endlessly, resulting in multiple infractions, and forever stamping the indelible mark on UC who will forever be known as UNLV East.

Your rant on Huggy is factual AH. I have a few acquaintances in unique positions to confirm both the DUI escapades and the Ted Kennedy-like philandering with the wife of a prestigious booster. Plus a certain video rental establishment where players were given jobs. Players that somehow got clocked in and out without physically ever showing up. Such were the glorious 90’s in Clifton….

are you claiming a bridge somewhere? After all, it was more a "Kennedy men" thing than just a Ted Kennedy thing
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

To be honest, I was hoping Miller would be able to lock in a top 50 recruit or two and a top 10 transfer - those rankings are a little scattered so top 10 on any of those portal lists. I get that we arent Villanova but wanted a little more of a splash. Am I off base or does anyone else share the same sentiments? Hoping I am just being impatient.

If the lack of success of the vast majority of Xavier recruits over the last 4 years, and their overall class rankings, has shown anything, it’s shown that most of those rankings probably aren’t worth the paper they are written on. At this point I see no reason to not trust Miller’s judgement on who has brought in during this past recruiting cycle. I’d also say that the NIL is having a major effect on where those top players end up, and Xavier is going to find it harder and harder to compete at that level until they vastly increase their efforts in that area.

Former UCLA big man, Mac Etienne 6'10" 235 lbs has entered the transfer portal. He committed to UCLA but had Xavier courting him at one time. While he played in something like 30-32 games last year, his production was negligible averaging 1.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 6.8 minutes per game off the bench … shot 44.7 percent from the field (17-for-38) and finished the season with 15 blocks.

Micawber Etienne(his full name) was the top-ranked player in the state of Connecticut during the 2019-20 school year … was ranked as high as No. 31 in the Class of 2021 top 100 rankings by 247Sports.com

His hometown is NYC

2024 four-star power forward Tyler McKinley tells me he’s down to seven schools. Xavier UC and OSU are in the seven VT, MSU, Tenn, and Bama the other four. He did list X logo first

Hamilton native Jalik Dunkley-Distant 2024 6’7
@JalikDunkley

More than blessed to receive an offer from the University of Xavier
@XavierMBB

According to Josh Millican

Source: (2024) 6’7 Jalik Dunkley-Distant is at OTE for their All-Star Takeover weekend. Hearing that he will participate in the 5 on 5 and the OTE dunk off!

Think “Xavier University” will offer him too?
