I believe most if not all of us have gladly move on from Travis. I brought him up in this thread because the prospect mentioned looking at recent success. Xavier had little if any success under Travis so it is a potential concern for recruiting if the player does not take coaching changes into account. Most likely the point was driven home but I wasn't in any meetings nor did I have conversations with the recruit independently so I posted about the concerns.
Tyler seems like a very reachable prospect. Connection to the school and city. Seems to respect Miller's knowledge of the game. We could use some post players and I'd love post players with the ability to play defense.
Hopefully X can get to the elite 8 or further this year and put to rest any concerns about recent success. Not an easy task to be sure but certainly possible. Ucon is ranked number 2. They beat GT by a similar margin on their home court. Uconn looked impressive in Portland but they are beatable. 2 wins against Ucon this year and X will get a nice seed in the tournament assuming they don't drop a bunch of games they shouldn't. Yes 2 wins is a lot to ask but 1 at home and 1 in BE tournament could be reminiscent of X vs St Joe in their undefeated season. That St Joe team was better than UCON.

Re: Xavier recruits and transfers
I saw a number of recruits at the UConn game, including a committed player in Reid Ducharme.
Other name mentioned in this thread were 6'11" Malachi Moreno, Centerville SG Jonathan Powell, and Pittsburg native Royce Parham
Moreno and Parham might be big guys that could replace Jack and Zack. All are 4 stars in some rankings.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

I'll see Powell play tonight, but didn't realize he was on Xavier's radar. Talked to someone fairly close to the program on New Year's Day and he mentioned that Miller will add a big or two from the portal.

Great game to have recruits at. Great crowd energy and a win over the 2nd ranked team certainly can't hurt the odds of getting a commitment.

Sean Miller (and his son), Dante and another guy were at the game not far from Skyhops Jr and I. Powell had 13 points and didn’t look like a high D1 player to me. Cupps from Centerville is going to IU and was pursued by X. I’m sure Miller wanted to talk to me and my sources but I have him some space. Zip em up

So Sky tell us what you think he lacks as a D1 player. I am not saying you are wrong but where do you see his deficiency?skyhops wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 10:13 pmSean Miller (and his son), Dante and another guy were at the game not far from Skyhops Jr and I. Re: Xavier recruits and transfers
He is supposed to be a really good shooter and was I believe 3/12 from 3 on mostly open looks and did not dominate a game like a four star should on my opinion. We have a top recruit shooter who hardly plays in Craft and we all know the SG’s that Steele ran off (Harden, Kennedy, Bishop, etc.), but Miller is a much better evaluator of talent than Steele so who knows. I do think that Craft will give us a lift next year.

Thanks for the update. I ascribe his off-game to one game and hope Sean will make the right choices. I hope others will get a chance to see him play for other opinions.skyhops wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 2:21 pmHe is supposed to be a really good shooter and was I believe 3/12 from 3 on mostly open looks and did not dominate a game like a four star should on my opinion. Re: Xavier recruits and transfers
Kachi Nzeh (Xavier offered- see above posts) was at the Nova game and got an offer from Nova. His teammate, Christian Bliss was also at the game, he also holds an offer from Xavier. Bliss is a 6'4" SG that is pretty good on defense he spoke to Rival on Xavier: “I like the coaches and have gotten to know them over time. I really like their approach to the game. They have also been playing great basketball, and I have enjoyed watching them play this year.” Rivals reaction He scores at a high rate and can play on and off the ball, traits that are lacking across the board in the 2024 class.
