Azavier Roberson - couple of tidbits
1. Top target of ND whose new coach is from Indy and a Cathedral graduate.
2. His nickname is “Stink”.
3. Video https://www.google.com/search?q=azavier ... kxUuM,st:0

When do we start to get nervous about the quality of our 2024 class? A few nuggets still remaining but we dont appear to be front runners for any of them.

We have a large class on campus this year. That probably weighs against us. Sean has always managed to have good players. I trust in Sean.

We don’t. We realize that the process for recruiting/building a team has changed significantly. High school recruiting will continue to decrease in importance and building through the transfer portal and bringing in international players will increase. Bringing in only 1-2 high school players per year will be the norm, not the exception.

I don’t like it either, but it is what it is.

One benefit of the smaller high school is a team with little more experience. The transfers and international will give the coaches more look at game films at the college level, both education-wise and playing-wise, much like pro football with the free agent option.

High schoolers will learn their college trades, except for the top 100, at a lower-level program and, if worthy, could be a transfer candidate.

Like it or not, a lot of high school players are not college-worthy but could become productive with baby steps. Now how do you tell the others that when they enter the transfer portal, they will end up not connecting and scrambling to maintain a scholarship at any school?

I think what we might see in the future is a lot of recruits and few commitments, which will change with a national championship banner or more hanging from the rafters of Cintas.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Some solid points MM. I believe it is way too early to make any judgments on next year's recruiting class and how that portends to indicate any new permanent trends. It is a new landscape, international players and the freaking revolving door portal system. That said, I feel it will ebb and flow from year to year. In that sure, 2024 looks like we may only wind up with one or two HS Frosh incoming. But 2025 we may find that Sean brings in 4 or 5 HS recruits. It just could be that the international efforts this year plus Kazi were just too good to pass on so now we have a bumper crop of talented forwards & centers. Trey Green is only a frosh plus Dayvion is eligible to be back next year. Des should be back next year. We hope by his Soph year Dailyn Swain will have blossomed as well as Reid, giving us multiple solid small forwards. So honestly, the staff really only has one glaring need for 2024 and that is outside shooting talent. Whether that be a guard or small forward. And what do you know, that is the position of the one signed recruit that we do have for next year... So maybe there is a plan! And yes, that plan, as will all D-1 contenders these days, will need to be VERY fluid.

The only players on the roster that are listed as seniors are Olivari, Hunter, and Free. Everyone else could be back for the 24-25 season. Only McKnight and Osumane are listed as juniors. Xavier will have a very young and somewhat inexperienced team again next year. How X will replace the players that leave remains to be seen. One thing I’m sure of is that some players will transfer out in the future and will need to be replaced.

Respectfully disagree here. It depends on the nature of your team. While X got 3 international players (mainly because of Freemantle and Hunter) they still brought 4 freshmen. It isn't like X doesn't have several offers, they are just choosing elsewhere.
